GA CENTRAL MCE DISTRIBUTES LAPTOP COMPUTERS TO ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

T

he Ga Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has distributed 20 laptop computers to all Assembly members and government appointees of the Assembly.

The distribution is in fulfilment of a promise made to Assembly members by the MCE. In all, thirteen (13) assembly members and seven (7) government appointees received the laptop computers.

Hon. Emmanuel Allotey in engaging the Assembly members expressed concerns on how Assembly members carry out their work. He underscored the need for them to recuse themselves and not protect tax paying defaulters who call on them for protection against revenue collectors.

“With just three months left to end the year, revenue collected for the Assembly is very low as compared to the previous years and I admonish you to also help in raising revenue for the Assembly”, he said while expressing concern about revenue mobilisation.

Assembly members also raised pertinent issues concerning their electoral areas.

They complained of lack of their involvement in the day-to-day activities by the Assembly. They also raised concerns about projects implementation where assembly members are often neglected.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, in addressing some of the concerns of the Assembly members and assured them of the Assembly’s readiness to do things differently going forward. He, however, cautioned Assembly members against interfering in the work of revenue collectors.

Mr Koranteng again warned members who print their own receipts for revenue collection to desist from engaging in such acts as it amounts to criminality.

Hon. Emmanuel Allotey in his closing remarks proposed a frequent meeting schedule with Assembly members and government appointees for effective communication and dissemination of information.

He promised a borehole and water supply system to be constructed for each electoral area with four to be rolled out in the interim.

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people. The cost of freedom is always high"
