GA CENTRAL CELEBRATES 41ST FARMERS DAY
WITH A CALL TO ‘FEED GHANA, EAT GHANA, SECURE THE FUTURE’.

he Ga Central Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Ghana’s agricultural sector by honoring and equipping farmers within the municipality during the 41st National Farmers Day celebration held on December 5, 2025.
‘Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure The Future’ was the national theme for this year’s celebration.
Speaking during the celebration, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, expressed his deep gratitude to the farmers for their resilience as well as their crucial contribution to the local and national economy.

He added that the Assembly has approved a proposal and plans are far advanced to establish a veterinary clinic to offer comprehensive animal health services which includes parasite control, vaccination, diseases diagnosis and treatment, animal pregnancy management as well as public education on zoonotic diseases prevention and control.
Hon. Emmanuel Allotey said again that a recent collaboration was done between the Veterinary Services and the Municipal Education Directorate in conducting an Anti-Rabies Education Campaign in three large institutions within the municipality thus, Anyaa M/A 2, St. Justine Anglican (Cluster of Schools) the Anyaa Cluster of Schools (Greater D 1&2).

The Dromoo Dance Ensemble lightened the event up with the beautiful cultural dances.

Students of the Odorgonno Senior High School graced the occasion.
In a post-event interview, the MCE, Hon. Emmanuel Allotey, in sharing his vision for the coming years revealed plans to construct a dedicated farmers’ market to improve food accessibility within the municipality to help stabilize foodstuff prices.
He also mentioned the Assembly’s intent to collaborate with institutions including the Odorgonno Senior High School by supplying fertilizers and equipment to cultivate the school’s extensive farmlands.
In addressing the gathering, the Municipal Agriculture Director, Mr. Francis Ato Kwamena Mensah announced that fifteen (15) farmers were nominated across the municipal however eight (8) farmers together with an Agric extension officer were selected to be awarded in the categories.

The categories awarded include Overall Farmer of the Year, Best Livestock Farmer, Best Aquaculture Farmer, Best Woman Farmer, Best Farmer with Disability, and Alternate Livelihood Farmer.
The awards were presented by the MCE, assisted by the dignitaries present as well as the various heads of department including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng and the Presiding Member, Hon. Michael Acquah.
Mid-celebration, the MCE together with the Heads of Department and all dignitaries present inspected the foodstuffs and livestock displayed by farmers while engaging them directly.
Religious and traditional leaders in attendance include the Sowutuom Mantse, Nii Osabu Ofori I, Nii Kwaku Fosu III, Nii Sempe Mensah IV, Nii Okaiman Manye and Imam Fuhad Yusif.

Also in attendance were the heads of the various security services within the municipality.
The 41st Farmers Day observed in the Ga Central Municipal Assembly was a celebration of tradition, policies and support for the agricultural sector.

Officers from the Ghana Immigration Service were also present at the event.
